With expansive views of Puget Sound, the Blue Ridge neighborhood of north Seattle has plenty to offer. North Beach is a little less formal, but has similar homes and views. The two neighborhoods are often referred to together as the Blue Ridge/North Beach neighborhood.
Housing Stock
Housing options in this neighborhood are primarily single family, with a few newer townhomes constructed along NW 85 Street and 15th Avenue NW. The Blue Ridge community is characterized by underground utilities, view protection and closely-adhered to covenants. North Beach is more free-wheeling, some areas with stellar Puget Sound views, other homes nestled along wooded ravines, affording a more quiet, natural setting. Both neighborhoods afford residents a singular, Northwest lifestyle with close proximity to Puget Sound, yet still a short commute to downtown and the University of Washington. Both communities offer beach club access, subject to location.
Transportation
Transportation in these neighborhoods is primarily dependent upon personal vehicles. There are some public bus routes which serve each community, connecting residents with Ballard, downtown Seattle and the University of Washington.
Shopping, Dining and Nightlife
Blue Ridge and North Beach are primarily residential, however they are in close proximity to shopping districts along NW 85th Street, Holman Road and 15th Avenue NW. Dining options are available in these areas, as well as along Seaview Avenue which runs from Golden Gardens Park to the Ballard Locks. The legendary Ray's Boathouse and Cafe are along Seaview. Additionally, it's just minutes to all the resources that downtown Ballard has to offer.
Schools
Public elementary, middle and high schools serve the North Beach and Blue Ridge communities. North Beach Elementary is located along 24th Ave NW, and Whitman Middle School is located on 15th Ave NW. Public high school students attend classes at Ingraham High School. Nearby in Ballard, St. Alphonsus parish school offers grades K-8, as does St John parish school, located on NW 80th & Greenwood Avenue. There are several pre-schools in nearby Ballard and Greenwood offered for younger children.

Parks and Other Amenities
North Beach borders Golden Gardens Park, which provides expansive beach access and some of the best views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Permanent and transitory boat moorage is available at Shilshole Marina. Both Blue Ridge and North Beach have private beach access, determined by location of personal residence. On the north, Blue Ridge is bordered by Carkeek Park. This popular park offers extraordinary views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Here you can explore 220 acres of lush forest, meadows, wetlands, creeks, and beach.
